Deep in the heart of the Betwixt there is refuge for those that would pursue advances in technology without the fear of intrusion by politics, regulations, or ethics. The Crossroads is a hub that was created at the intersection of the great bridges. The crown-jewel of this metropolis is the Contraption Raceways. Here shepherds have merged machines with their herds to create the ultimate speed machines! Contraptions are fast and mean, but fragile. Noggin 963 benefits whenever any gruff tries to grow faster than their standard speed, Blastov is the most explosively aggressive gruff in the game, and Gusto is the ultimate synergy of mobility and aggression. Contraptions live for synergy, and have the capacity to manipulate the most fundamental rules of the game. Combine their machination abilities to create combos of incredible power! The master mechanic of the contraption raceways is a shepherd named Jigger. He is an expert at maximizing the potential of his pit-crew for astonishing comebacks. When the moment comes, he can turn almost any situation into a victory.

In the early days of the "Troll Wars", the shepherds of the Green Span feared they were falling behind in the monster-goat-arms-race. They tried to compete with the Grendel Goats by wrenching the juice from fallen trolls, and injecting that vile fluid into their herd. The resulting plague granted them power, but rotted their world to the core. Now these fiends wander The Betwixt hoping to find a new home for their infection. Funkfiends can come in all shapes and sizes, but those in this set have a definite defensive bent. Pustule is an explosively aggressive tank, while Gobs is an impenetrable wall of snot. Any deck that uses mutations will love to have Licky around. One thing that all Funkfiends have in common is that they love sickness and plague. They attach negative mutations to their opponents then trample over their enfeebled remains. The chief of these Funkfiends is Hank Hogbox, the connoisseur of filth. Never one to let a morsel go to waste, whenever any gruff is killed, Hogbox gains 1 Life. Clever Hogbox players will take just enough damage to trigger their threshold ability, then gain life to trigger it again and again.
