In the early days of the "Troll Wars", the shepherds of the Green Span feared they were falling behind in the monster-goat-arms-race. They tried to compete with the Grendel Goats by wrenching the juice from fallen trolls, and injecting that vile fluid into their herd. The resulting plague granted them power, but rotted their world to the core. Now these fiends wander The Betwixt hoping to find a new home for their infection. Funkfiends can come in all shapes and sizes, but those in this set have a definite defensive bent. Pustule is an explosively aggressive tank, while Gobs is an impenetrable wall of snot. Any deck that uses mutations will love to have Licky around. One thing that all Funkfiends have in common is that they love sickness and plague. They attach negative mutations to their opponents then trample over their enfeebled remains. The chief of these Funkfiends is Hank Hogbox, the connoisseur of filth. Never one to let a morsel go to waste, whenever any gruff is killed, Hogbox gains 1 Life. Clever Hogbox players will take just enough damage to trigger their threshold ability, then gain life to trigger it again and again.

I'm sorry, but Hogbox doesn't gain life when "any" gruff is killed. The card text says when "a" gruff is killed. Since "any" is used in multiple cards, and it was not used in Hogbox, the implication is that "a" means something different than "any". The only possible meaning is when one of Hogbox's gruffs is killed then he gains a life... not when "any" gruff is killed. This legitimate interpretation of the card text also serves to level out the Hogbox attribute thus making the games more even and Hogbox not the exclusive first choice of shepherds.
